Rocky Mountain development
Members of the group are developing a new N gauge layout based on the Rocky Mountaineer Railroad network in Canada.
The layout, in keeping with our aim to make layouts easily transportable, consists of three boards each three feet by two feet, and comprises a scenic section and a hidden fiddle yard.
This page is intended to show the progress in its development.
The construction of this layout has been inspired by a trip taken by one of our members on the Rocky Mountaineer Railroad in Canada.
The gallery right shows some pictures from that trip and some scenes from the railroad publicity site.

Thus far we have the three baseboards and a track plan.
After discussion the fiddle yard plan was updated to include a further road for extra flexibility in running.
(As shown in the diagram below).
We use Any-rail track planning software as it enables track plan alignments to be proved simply.

The latest step has been to form the elevated track bed for the scenic side of the layout and install supports to enable depth and, in future, a river bridge inspired by the pictures in the initial post.
