Meetings & Events

Dartford Model Railway Group meet on Thursday evenings, from 7:30 - 10:30, in South Darenth village, near Dartford, in Kent. We are about four miles from Dartford station/town centre off the A225 Dartford-Farningham road and around half a mile from Farningham Road station.

During the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns the group introduced Zoom sessions to enable us to keep meeting while following government guidelines.
As our current venue is hired to another organisation on the second Thursday of each month, it was decided to continue Zoom meetings on those dates.

Meetings are used for the planning and construction of group layouts and a test track is set up so that members can run their OO or N gauge locos and stock. Running nights are held for the various layouts by arrangement.

Occasionally additional running days are held to allow more time for members to run their stock, develop running sequences for our exhibition layouts etc.

Group layouts are built with the aim of reaching a standard where they can be exhibited, and we attend shows as and when invited.

The Exhibition Calendar option on the menu  shows current invitations.

We have occasional Open Days to promote and raise awareness of the group.

There are demonstrations of various practical skills by members to enable others to benefit from their experience and expertise, and 'Railway Doctor' sessions when problems with stock or equipment can be diagnosed, and hopefully solved.

We also have occasional guest speakers on topics of railway interest.
